“Like That is about the “just before” - the moment before the eruption, before the climax. In the facility where our studio was located, the atmospheric pressure seemed to be controlled by sound. With every sound we made, the pressure and temperature of the pipes in the walls around us increased. The first time we overloaded the system, air pressure valves were triggered and the studio filled with boiling hot steam, destroying all of our equipment. Dealing with the insurance company was horrible and endless, and yet something about that building called us back. We managed to measure and predict the overloads and synchronised our songwriting process with it. Every two or three days, when the air would thicken and the walls would start to groan, we’d know the end of the cycle was near. We would remove our entire setup – emptying the room so that the system could regulate and the cycle could start anew. As we’d wait outside, we’d watch the steam gush out through all the vents and crevices of the building.” – with love, No Plexus
