‘b-CY’ is an impactful four-track techno EP, yet it borrows the aesthetic from the left-field side of things.
The title of the EP oscillates between the ideas of ‘breaking the Cycle’ and ‘bringing the Cycle’. It is a reflection on life’s rhythms and cycles through the repetitive nature of techno. In this release, Ilya moves his production into more interwoven structures that dissolve into one another, wrapping them in tribal percussion and reassembled breaks.
‘b-CY’ is infused with fragments and textures drawn from Ilya’s favourite archival radio shows of the late ’90s and early 2000s, merging these samples into intricate sonic collages that blur the line between classic techno spirit and forward-thinking grooves.
Staying true to his signature style and intuitive approach, with ‘b-CY’ Ilya continues to find his way around the outlines of techno.
