Can you tell my inspiration for Cold Nostalgia? Making a Minecraft type song is something that's always interested me as I have a lot of nostalgia for C418's early work on the game. Obviously, this track is more than just making a song sound similar to Minecraft, but that was a lot of the foundation before I expanded upon that in my own way. The earlier half is reminiscent of tracks like Wet Hands and Sweden, relying soley on a melody and chords. This was something I've not done prior (at least to the simplicity C418 enforced), so there was a lot of experimenting to get that philosophy down as it needed to work for the second half of the track to truly fly. Speaking of which, the latter half is definitely more my style infuced into the Minecraft aesthetic, doing fun spacey stuff with samples and synths.
On the surface, Cold Nostalgia seems like quite a slight track, but I do associate a lot of meaning with it. For instance, the name 'Cold Nostalgia' I chose as the track to me called back to a lost time playing Minecraft on my own or with my friends, a time I can never get back to. Often, people get stuck in what used to be, thinking of it as a better time than now, and I feel that notion works quite well by using a popular IP as a basis for that fallen nostalgia.
I enjoy the end product of Cold Nostalgia a lot, and feel like I'm evolving my sound in minimal yet relevant ways with each release since Reality Be Overrated. Looking forward for my final releases in the latter months of 2025, but until then, I hope y'all enjoy!
