Psychedelic mid-tempo wormhole “Spiral’s Leap” from ambient/bass shapeshifter Tristan Arp arrives on Human Pitch October 1st with an accompanying remix by DJ Plead. Built around an improvisation on modular synthesizer, “Spiral’s Leap” finds Tristan Arp weaving his club-minded and ambient approaches with a nod to free jazz.
Bass clarinet contortions and quasi-harp flourishes swirl atop resonant pings and drippy percussion. The cavernous environment is echoed in the artwork by Nanjing-based photographer Zhang An, whose macroscopic worlds have accompanied Tristan Arp’s music since last year’s a pool, a portal.
Accelerating the original with an extra dose of hand drums, DJ Plead takes “Spiral’s Leap” to alternate heights. Cleverly paced for dancefloors, the rework has a clear narrative arc punctuated by timely silence and triplet bursts.
