In this track Fontaine talks directly to the people on the other side of the glass. He tells the audience they want it live, they prefer lies that entertain, they buy comfort instead of effort—“People want it easy they don’t want to put in time.” He calls out their absence (“You don’t even notice it”) and their timing (“They said they’re too mature for me” after ignoring him at the bottom). Between hooks, he runs the receipt: betrayals by friends, love that’s leverage, a life “set up like a movie.” The song is his address to watchers who treat real pain as content, and his refusal—exhausted, explicit, and still on record—to let them look away.
