"I’ve been privileged to see Tj grow into music, and when I say “into music” I mean just that, he has grown into music. From the time we released “It’s Okay Now, You Can Open Your Eyes” a few years ago to this ‘Bedrock & Paradox’ Tj has journeyed deep into not only his equipment, or gear, but into his soul and his craft. This record is a profound statement of blooming golden and purple light. The music here creates a space for someone, a room maybe, for us listeners to not only to explore and listen to beautiful sound, but to explore and listen to ourselves. A place to hang up whatever masks we put on to get through our day to day, and feel the joys and griefs of our lived experiences. It’s a special kind of music that can hold someone through this. It’s an invitation to pause, and take in all the parts of ourselves. It’s heavy, booming, light and wistful, liminal and solid all at once.
pinyonpine’s ‘bedrock & paradox’ is not just a phenomenal electronic record, it’s more a deeply crafted synthesized extension of a human spirit. Artist Tj Nelson has a way of crafting works that ebb and flow so organically it is almost misnomer to place in it an “electronic” genre."
