Climes is the project of Gadigal/Sydney-based artist Monty Callaghan. His debut album Water & Music is built around archival voice and piano recordings performed by each of his long-departed grandmothers, stretching as far back as 1980 and as recently as 2011. Blending ambient electronics, orchestral music, field recordings, tape experiments and the saxophone of Icelandic artist Solvi Kolbeinsson, Water & Music is also a spellbinding full-length film by Naarm/Melbourne-based filmmaker and artist Jordan James Kaye, shot and hand edited entirely on 16mm film.
