Barely in his 20s, Sheffield artist 96 Back has already turned heads with his intricate, emotive take on electro, techno and garage, picking up support from Skee Mask (who 96 collaborated with on his ADRISM release from earlier this year), Bradley Zero and more.
Debuting in 2018 with a series of releases on hometown label Central Processing Unit, 96 has continued active in 2020, honing his sound across EPs on Hypercolour and Happy Skull and collaborative releases with Happa and Henzo.
On Sugilite, his debut for Local Action, 96 flexes his production muscles like never before across four tracks that range from delicate romanticism (‘Half A Reach’) to heavyweight club curveballs (‘Waif’, ‘Hot Tip’) — resulting in a record that’s instantly gratifying but full of subtle details and hidden depths.
