Somewhere in the depths of my archives there exist songs without words, composed of weird melodies, played on self-governing guitars and depraved keyboards, including crackling sounds without origin.
Between 1999 and 2002, I discovered my first DAW, driven by a simple desire: to record my own music. I had a multitude of ideas that I captured as I went along - spontaneously, instinctively, with whatever I had on hand. I played keyboard parts, bass lines, and even programmed the drums…sometimes directly on my computer keyboard.
These recordings are full of imperfections: an out-of-tune guitar plugged directly into a sound card, raw mixes, distorted sound. Nine instrumental tracks from another era, preserved as they were.
Today, with hindsight, I listen to them differently. There's a certain tenderness in their authenticity, something experimental, unique, and profoundly sincere. Above all, they convey an urgent need to create.
For the curious and the adventurous, there may be something to discover there.
