remembrance of elder ways, the new longform EP by musician and conceptual artist IHP (aka ihearplaces), is a collection of soundscapes designed to simulate and prepare listeners for the imminent ecological and social crises and collapses caused by global climate change. Realizing that dystopian fiction and social commentary are joined at the hip, IHP interlaces these sonic landscapes with various samples, juxtaposing eerie metallic ambiance with sampled divas and chopped-and-screwed versions of mainstage EDM, reflecting how the aesthetic of apocalyptic euphoria that characterizes EDM genres like brostep and hardstyle serve not only as entertainment, but also social prophecy.
