In act I, scene II the theme of good versus evil is revealed through Jongole and Dongole. Man’s internal struggle between good and evil manifests itself in the outside world once he has chosen one or the other, what follows is a striving for (without completion) of one ideal while fighting against the other. The audience immediately senses this in the play; while the characters Jongole and Dongole have not yet been revealed, they feel the looming presence behind their very heads. The scene is concluded by the death of Smongole, which brings what some viewers call the “truer” or “secondary” play. But one must look forward, even as fate whispers its coming presence in the left ear…
