Over the past decade, VIPRA SATIVA has evolved from an underground presence into one of the most visionary architects of Italy’s experimental soundscape. With the release of CINEMA JAO 2420, their long-anticipated debut album, VIPRA inaugurate a bold new chapter in the language of electronic music, merging visual art and kinetic performance into a single transmedia gesture. Turning rhythm into sculpture, and sound into weight.
Conceived as a sci-fi, Pasolinesque hallucination—a hyperobject in sonic form—CINEMA JAO 2420 (partially recorded at Forum Studios, Ennio Morricone’s legendary recording space) marks a pivotal moment after the foundational trilogy: MUSICA JAO [Presto!?], MUSICA SATIVA [Halcyon Veil], and MUSICA BALLABILE [Hundebiss]. Merging sonic ritual and kinetic performance, the album evokes Cronenberg’s Videodrome, where media invades the body and rhythm becomes sculpture. VIPRA crafts a sensory world where music, space, and perception dissolve.
As the founder of Hyperlento Solutions, VIPRA gave birth to a sound and a movement. More than a label, Hyperlento is a philosophical and sonic platform focused on experimental Slowstyle: a tempo-shifting, emotion-heavy, rhythmically abstract language of sound that thrives in liminality. It is the antithesis of algorithmic dance music: slow, intentional, cinematic. Through their sound, VIPRA has connected a global constellation of artists rethinking time, texture, and intensity, establishing bridges between Italy’s underground illegal rave scene and the global deconstructed club community.
CINEMA JAO 2420 stands as the first full expression of this vision. It is cinema without visuals, music that shatters narrative form. Each track resists linear time, unfolding as reverberation and recursion. With nods to Italian Slowstyle, cyberpunk computer game FX, screwed hardstyle tropes, and fractured club rhythms, the album inhabits a space where narrative implodes and presence becomes spatial.
VIPRA doesn’t just create music—they create environments and conceptual frameworks. Emerging as a genre-founder, international community builder, and sonic philosopher, VIPRA SATIVA stands as a key architect of post-club consciousness. In a world accelerating toward injustice and disintegration, CINEMA JAO 2420 is the sound of media decaying in real time—the echo of collapsed timelines and the breath of something entirely other, just beginning to take form.
VIPRA SATIVA, also known simply as VIPRA, is the sonic moniker of Fede Proietti—a visual artist, performer, and theorist of Presenturo, born and raised in the Roman banlieue of Torpignattara. A leading pioneer of the Hyperlento global music community, VIPRA is an ever-evolving project at the intersection of experimental sound, contemporary art, and transmedia performance. VIPRA’s work has been presented across major international art institutions and cultural platforms, including the Schinkel Pavillon and HAU Theatre (Berlin), Kunsthalle Wien (Vienna), MAXXI and MACRO (Rome), Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Swiss Institute, American Academy in Rome, Labirinto della Masone di Franco Maria Ricci, Kunstverein München (Munich), and OGR (Turin). VIPRA’s music has been released by labels such as Presto!?, Hundebiss, Halcyon Veil, and Country Music. The track “Uomo Tuono” was selected as part of Warp Records’ best new music picks alongside works by Ryuichi Sakamoto, Kelela, and Danny Brown.
In 2024, VIPRA was invited by La Triennale di Milano to perform at MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Art for the inauguration of its new open-air pavilion. Most recently, their performance was featured during the Nova Libertatia exhibition at Forum Theatre, held inside Forum Studios, the legendary recording complex of Ennio Morricone, located beneath Rome’s Basilica del Sacro Cuore Immacolato—a site that has hosted icons including the likes of Quincy Jones, Björk, Franco Battiato, and Raffaella Carrà.
In 2025, VIPRA SATIVA founded Hyperlento Solutions, a sonic research hub dedicated to the philosophy and development of Experimental Slowstyle. VIPRA's CINEMA JAO 2420 has been presented at MACRO - The Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome.
