Today [Friday 24th April], Portuguese DJ and producer Mix’Elle drops her brand new EP Rage Days, out via Up Ya Archives Records.
Spanning five tracks, Rage Days is driven by sonic deviation, weaving together junglist breaks, weighty basslines, melodic moments and vocal chants. It’s a project that is fuelled by raw club energy whilst still being deeply intentional.
At its core, the EP explores themes of community, movement and release. The title track ‘Rage Days’ speaks to how music and community can act as a vital comfort zone in turbulent times. ‘8’, named after the infinity number, draws on symbolism tied to power, balance and renewal, seamlessly flowing into ‘Maresia’, the Portuguese word for sea breeze, which channels a connection between earth and ocean through distorted, almost therapeutic sonic waves. Lastly, ‘Divagação’ leans into a more exploratory space, built around the idea of wandering and straying from a fixed path, mirroring its fluid and freeform structure.
