WH;STLE AT MY KNEE is a piece of live, improvised sound transformation composition by Dan Măguleanu made somewhere in 2022.
The work is built around a simple, personal experience: Măguleanu has sensitive knees, and sometimes the pain feels almost like a whistle passing through the cracks. The piece translates that sensation into sound, creating a whistling environment or instrument that evokes being needled through the knee, tense, uncomfortable, but resonant.
To Dan’s ears, it goes from moments that feel packed and controlled to moments that feel like they’re slipping apart. There’s a loose logic to it, some parts stick, others collapse, but it keeps moving.
