On ‘Yedora’s Music Catalog’, RougeHotel renders a world of uncanny beauty, where crackles of the divine commune with earthly grit. A world within, where blown out melodies echo through foggy moors and pads n synths are redlined to reveal the harshness at the core of the crystalline prettiness.

This album extends an antennae to the noise, with opener ‘Gruulsignet’ chasing signals in the roil and capturing divine voices in the static. The caustic swirl of ‘Yedora’ and ‘Foil’ are disrupted by glimmering, otherworldly transmissions, heartstopping melodic bursts breaking through like beams of concentrated light through a dark, gnarled wilderness. But it’s on ‘Rhystic Study’ and ‘Choral Chaos Re-Drum’ where the light is forged into form — d&b-inflected slappers that go off like they’re transcribed from ancient druidic runes. The road is long and perilous, so consider this album an amulet, a protective charm, a talisman. This is pathfinder music.
