a museum is a building — an thus something in perpetual state of construction
Born out of a sheer need to explore the relationship between identity and admiration, sélpide's Spain-based, Korea-recorded Museum of Misplaced Art took 5 years in the making. From the Pokémon franchise to pop genius Lorde to the village of Avilés, each song pays homage to a different referent, toying with symbols, genres and languages in the hopes of creating its own.

Through others we become ourselves.
― Lev S. Vygotsky
You read something which you thought only happened to you, and you discover that it happened 100 years ago to Dostoyevsky. This is a very great liberation for the suffering, struggling person, who always thinks that he is alone.
This is why art is important.
― James Baldwin, Conversations with James Baldwin
I hang pictures of my favourite artists in my studio. They're like friendly ghosts. I can almost feel them pushing me forward as I'm hunched over my desk. The great thing about dead or remote masters is that they can’t refuse you as an apprentice. You can learn whatever you want from them.
They left their lesson.
― Austin Kleon, Steal Like an Artist
That’s one of the great things about music. You can sing a song to 85,000 people and they’ll sing it back for 85,000 different reasons.
― Dave Grohl
I want to explain her in a way that would make you love her, but the problem with this is that loving is something we all do alone and through different sets of eyes.
― Julia Armfield, Our Wives Under the Sea
And you understand now / Why they lost their minds and fought the wars / And why I've spent my whole life trying to put it into words
― Taylor Swift, You Are In Love
I believe if there's any kind of God it wouldn't be in any of us, not you or me but just this little space in between. If there's any kind of magic in this world it must be in the attempt of understanding someone sharing something. I know, it's almost impossible to succeed but who cares really? The answer must be in the attempt.
― Julie Delpy, Before Sunrise & Before Sunset: Two Screenplays
