Copenhagen-based artist and composer Soli City continues their sonic investigation of contemporary melancholy with Paradoxe II - a second volume in the exploration of affect, artifice, and contradiction. Conceived during the same period as the first edition, Paradoxe II extends the original’s emotional and sonic concerns, offering a parallel articulation rather than a continuation. Across four expansive compositions, Soli City deepens the language established in Paradoxe, further blurring the lines between classical form and digital rupture.
While the first album laid bare the emotional paradoxes of our time, Paradoxe II turns inward — not to resolve the contradictions, but to dwell in them. Voices stretch beyond recognition, strings shimmer with metallic resonance, and silence carves out tension. There is a shift from commentary to embodiment: the music becomes a mirror, fractured and refracted, reflecting the listener’s own alienation back at them.
