Abigail Toll is a sound artist and composer who makes a beguiling mix of abstract minimalism, pensive drone and thrumming electronics (Boomkat). Her debut record 'Matrices of Vision' (Shelter Press, 2023) focuses on the sonic and emotional potential of psychoacoustics and data, and was described by Bandcamp as “40 exquisite moments” and by François Bonnet of GRM as “a fascinating record – hyper concentrated on [Toll’s] academic training which loops back to a kind of exorcism” (Radio France). It was originally premiered as an ensemble performance, featuring Rebecca Lane, Lucy Railton, and Evelyn Saylor at KM28, and Klosterruine with KW Institute of Contemporary Art in Berlin. Her current installations and artistic research explore the more-than-human connections between pastoralism, psychoacoustics and folk music.
