Aroma is the new project from pianist and composer Aron Ottignon, blending his distinctive lyrical piano style with the expressive capabilities of the Osmose synthesizer and immersive sound design.
The debut EP, Return of the Dawn, was produced in Le Dorat, France. The first major music release to emerge from this historic town. Spanning five tracks, the EP features collaborations with Nane Kahle, a multidisciplinary artist and musician whose work integrates vocals, sonic textures, and Afro-futurist influences.
This marks Ottignon’s first release since Dama Begga Nibi with Aron & The Jeri Jeri Band, recorded in Senegal and widely praised for its fusion of jazz piano and Senegalese sabar rhythms. With Aroma, Ottignon shifts into a new sonic space, building layered dialogues between piano, synth, and voice, while continuing to ground his work in improvisation and collaboration.
Rooted in jazz but exploring ambient and experimental forms, Return of the Dawn functions both as an intimate studio recording and the foundation for a live performance series. It explores themes of space, memory, and the transient atmospheres music can evoke.
