“I got tired of listening to overproduced artists, so I set my speakers on fire.”
13 tracks of digital hardcore, made with FM synthesis and screams, featuring 5 collaborations (Mimi Madrid, Dislexical, Forobardera, Violeta Garcia, and ARO). A solo production that took three years to record, created outside of fixed locations, traditional recording studios, and large production teams.
quemaPARLANTES was made using only an Elektron Cycles and a microphone. The sounds were recorded live in two channels (left and right); the vocals were recorded with a PG48 mic in different rehearsal rooms across the suburbs, at my home in Rafael Calzada, in the Don Orione neighborhood, and at Muito Radio.
Since 2011 I’ve been screaming in hardcore bands. In 2017, I decided to experiment with electronic music thanks to Multimedia Arts and TRRUENO. In 2019, I fractured my skull performing at a hardcore show and stopped screaming with bands. In 2021, my laptop froze during a live set and I stopped playing electronic music.
In 2022, I bought my first groovebox, the Elektron Cycles, and brought together the two elements I love: hardcore and electronic music. Since then, I’ve only traveled to perform with my Elektron, two jack cables, my microphone, a flask, and a setlist, all packed into a small backpack that goes from the suburbs to anywhere.
“In this I want to be a “quemagorra”, to scream in your face everything I hate: years traveling on public transport just to sing, for pizza and beer, I’m tired and still hungry; I’ve been waiting two hours for the 160 and then I still have to walk. In the background there’s a song with 78 layers and maybe 12 chains of effects, produced in exclusive environments, with no rush, with purists surrounded by flawless speakers for monitoring. You don’t even know what to believe anymore, now everything is irony, nobody wants to burn, they’d rather stay lukewarm without even blinking.
On this record I scream about rich kids, about trappers forced to have a rock band, about overproduced music, about rock scene habits, about insanely expensive rehearsal spaces; I spit my hatred at the band with a packed schedule and an ambitious list of extravagant demands for the “artist” dressing room. I set TikTok on fire, but also the serious ones who suck more blood than vampires, like the lawyer’s son pretending to be marginal. Everything is compressed, especially on public transport, I’m a bit angry, a bit bored, a bit drunk, with a strong urge to fight, or maybe to do something political, a pact, like the endless search for work that ends in frustration and betrayal, my story where some idiots erased my screams — but this is not irony: my out-of-tune screams, the null effect, raw as it is, my loneliness and a company, I’m always late and the only thing I know how to do, the only thing I have left, is a love letter, a fire that burned it all.”
