Sami Baha’s third album, Mistarget, marks the inaugural entry for Amel’s catalogue, a new- generation label he co-founded in 2024 promoting a non-sectarian approach to what being a label is about. The EP distills Baha’s diverse influences as a globetrotter. Eclectic but effortlessly digestible, Mistarget blends dreamy synth backdrops and hip- hop adjacent beats with techniques borrowed from the post- clubbing world Baha is close to. Featuring his signature style of acute refinement-meets- unfamiliar detours, Mistarget is an exercise in sonic detournement, shaping familiar sounds into new forms. Club atmospheres and crescendos alternate with moments of repose, weaving intricate textures and palettes into an unpredictable sonic kaleidoscope.
