“The Fool” comes in a time of spiritual stagnation and confusion for many young people from the Polish-born, London-based alternative electronic artist PYTKO. Algorithms have replaced the gods from above, and TikTok Tarot Card readers act as some of the only sources of presumably “divine” intervention within the sea of digital information. In collaboration with KIWI, “The Fool” explores PYTKO’s intimate relationship with the specific Tarot Card, which is often described as a symbol of risk, intuition, and stepping into the unknown. The song and its accompanying visuals challenge the notion of finding personal meaning in an age of online virality, as PYTKO sings “You talk like truth / I don’t see proof / You leave I stay / Both of us halfway.” The track captures the uneasy tension between intuition and algorithmic influence.
