Rabid' gathers sound exchanges between Levi Lanser and Céline Mathieu since 2019. Usually collaborating under the name 'JAUME', Levi sends Céline tracks made of samples mostly, over which she then improvises without pre-listening, responding to the visual of the sound in Audacity, and reading bits and pieces from her notes. When doing so, she often seeks a feeling of falling away; a presence of language as voice; an in-between of meaning and mood, which is also part of the way in which it is recorded technically and text-wise. Many of these sound pieces have been featured in Céline's performative installations, and aired on (online) radios.
"Rabid uses leaking sounds, language and samples, that combine gentle warping and sudden jolts, with this idea of fucking up the voice, hearing it whispered, meowing, bending…" —as described by friend and sound artist Max Parnell
