To The Siren is the first song off upcoming No Problem Here I have selected to share with you.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did working on it. It's a song about disappearing and coming back as a ghost, being completely out of control with all that is happening around you and the frustration you have in people for lacking belief and love for you. Maybe a few more.
"To the Siren, touches on feelings of distance from home, old friends, and a desire to run either away or towards new & old problems. He recalls this explicitly in his opening words — “ I left home / far behind / and all my friends / yeah they’re all dead” Whether this is literal or not, these are remarks on something left behind, especially when he sings “I feel like a ghost in my hometown”
The song also specifically features some beautiful guest instrumentation, namely from Niall Morris and Olivia Mclean who respectively contributed trombone & cello, as well as drums by Paul Thomson (ex- Franz Ferdinand, Yummy Fur, etc.)
As an introduction to the album, you get a sense for the sounds ahead: distorted guitars crash along the sides while plucked strings and chords glide along, leading you through."
