}white triangles is the experimental moniker of prolific producer, and all around top gent, sam hatzaras. sam has had releases on i had an accident, amok, oxtail recordings, and waste management and ◢sidehatch. is proud to have him.
}}sam lives deep in the secluded expanses of countryside in his native Canada; and, either one wonders if the door to the yard was left ajar during a particularly cold fall’s studio sessions or he made the entire record whilst actively on nature walks because the chilly, sun-kissed god ray illuminances of colour and sound that comprise ‘II’ feel right at home coming from such wild, beautiful and powerful open vistas.
}}}white triangles started out as ambient love songs. ‘II’ is a different story. it’s the delicate marriage of intention and randomness. the tracks were recorded by collecting synths and sounds and then painting layer by layer - without hearing the previous layers - finally to reveal the outcome late in the process allowing editing and fine tuning the spotlight of careful craft in defining the pieces.
}}}}the result is a fascinating and hauntingly beautiful record that is equal parts intellectual (though never pretentiously arcane) and revelatory - a record that demands repeat listens. as each track lures one ever so deeper, old sampled clips of documentaries, interviews, field recording and character studies, act as wayfinding amongst cascades of delicate sound design. it’s just a place you want to be in - prayer bowls, gently murmuring synth pads, aching beauty, lost nostalgic wisps of Americana, and the warm hug of psychedelic fractals.
