background corn is about seals and about childhood. i put it together in a 3 month fever after finding a tape at my childhood home in NH of my 11 year old self narrating a “seal watch” boat ride in Maine in 1997. there were no seals on the boat, only advertisements for lobstah restaurants but I feel like i finally got to be amongst the california sea lions in sf. The overarching sense of wonder gets to the marrow of what I’m trying to discover in the materiality of sound as an adult, and the pieces formed sort of quickly and organically.
