"When recording Seance, I was heavily inspired by film scores, leading me to craft tracks that don’t necessarily follow a traditional structure," says Porygon "I was attempting to recreate the atmosphere of a mid-19th century seance, where the barrier between the living and the dead is threadbare”. The album takes the setting of these occult sessions and recontextualizes them within a hyper-modern world where spiritualism and religion are more invasive than ever.
Seance explodes with frenetic energy, shifting moods with each track. The album begins with dark ambient textures and electronic beats to create a dense atmosphere of dread and occult before shifting to sour synths with distorted 808s, often being played in disorienting rhythms to reflect the uneasy environment the project takes place in.
