Copenhagen duo mikey return on January 9 with somewhere I belong, the first single from their upcoming debut EP first notes, due in early spring 2026. Known for pairing raw unpredictability with dream-laden alt-pop, the duo take a confident step forward with a track that leans into uncertainty as both tension and release.
Written and produced through an open, collaborative process between Henrik Koefod Petersen and vocalist Maiken Kock Rask, somewhere I belong explores the magnetic pull of losing control and the strange comfort found in surrender. Rask’s intimate voice functions as both lead and texture, gliding across hazy harmonic layers, a weightless beat and a sinuous brass motif that quietly anchors the song. “It’s about feeling drawn to the loss of control,” Rask explains, “and the freedom of still having to find out where you belong.”
With subtle nods to late-’80s new-age atmospheres, shimmering percussion and an infectious hook at its core, the track expands mikey’s sonic world while keeping imperfection and intuition front and center. somewhere I belong offers a first glimpse into first notes, arriving via Copenhagen label Caress Studios.
