Warm Spell marks the debut release from Naarm based artist Solar Cells. Created with a range of modular systems drawing from both East and West Coast synthesis traditions, complemented by a rhythm unit and a tape echo machine, Warm Spell is an idiosyncratic exploration of post 1973 Kosmische Musik, carefully honed over months of experimentation in Imaginary Sound Fields.

Central to the album is a fascination with cycling motifs, guided by a unique circular score. Each piece emerges from this framework using a closed-loop compositional system designed to transform minimal input into a dynamic world of pulses and animations.

All music created by Solar Cells can be defined by either:
a. A pulse
b. An animation
c. A ratio of both by varying degrees

This simple compositional rule provides a template that produces immersive live experimentation and defined compositional outcomes.

The sound of Warm Spell nods to the innovative work of artists such as Harmonia & Cluster alongside processes inspired by Laurie Spiegel, yet remains uniquely its own, existing at the intersection of the dancefloor & experimental music.

Warm Spell is an expansive meditation on cosmic energy & dedicated to the inner glow of origin.
