South American bass ambassadors Sonora Destroy Records present another heavy-duty EP release filled with straight-up bangers from Slovakia with Wrong Dome, A Journalist and Poet turned DJ and Bass Music producer unleashing an electronic sound rooted in Alteregoism that goes
by the name of “Vitamins Lie In The Dark”.
The EP kicks off with “Darky Dork”, a dissonant crescendo that resembles an old-school piano builds up into a crooked headbanger with a mysterious feeling. Dry snares and hi-hats dress up the groove, which
work as a great introduction to the EP you’re about to dive yourself into. This track is followed by “Take me Higher”, which overcomes the aggressiveness from Darky Dork with distorted vocals that mellow out into a half-time beat with a big-room crash and triplets that expand the darkness that wraps around the concept of this release. Coming up third is a Darky Dork remix by Colombian Drum and Bass icon Dr. Kick, who presents a twist on the main single of the EP, coming to a middle ground in between its distinctive piano lick and a classic jungle-y percussion, perfect for club afterhours and heavy duty bassheads. Last, “Mayo”. An equally syncopated track that evokes the feeling of a detuned swing band,
shadowboxing in the dark, this time with elements that tease influences from Jersey Club, Breakbeat and other classic broken rhythms. Make sure to take your vitamins!
