I wrote and recorded this album when my partner and I were taking a huge leap by moving from one state to another, then one city in that new state to a new city. Some songs were written in Salt Lake City, some in Sebastopol, some in Petaluma.
In the end we were sharing a little farmhouse with a few roommates in Petaluma, and I recorded everything in our room upstairs, staring out at the magnolia trees, listening to the birds.
So this album feels like a bridge from one time and place to times and places behind me. It's a way to call up the past and commune with it. Which is fitting because I recorded everything into my phone.
