day astro and dotnine team up to release their debut project under apt moniker day.9.
The 5-track EP carries a strong identity, delivering crisp textural breaks through lush soundscapes and punchy lowend at 160bpm. The pair describe the project to be an artifact of intersection between deep, frenetic club music and emotional resonance.
Introductory track MOLT skitters fast arps and flanging top-end across captivating keys, underlined by a snapping kick drum. day.9 demonstrate their playfulness and versatility on BODYON, flipping acid bass and clubby vocals through several genres. Following this, day astro features his own vocals on GOCRAZY to create a high-octane bright footwork track. ASPER, the project's longest running track, carries an incredible amount of textural and melodic diversity, building dreamy synth layers to a culmination of driving breaks. Final track LASTSTOP samples the Bay Area Rapid Transit in attribution to both collaborators' devotion to the region, ending the project in complete melodic reconciliation.
nectar evolved in both in-person and remote production sessions, with its two creators living on opposite coasts. All tracks were produced in Ableton via samples and synthesis, with the minilogue xd and Novation Peak making several apperances throughout the project.
