What’s the itinerary for your perfect day in Los Angeles?
Eilish Constance: Waking up at 8 going on a walk, getting coffee from this place in Atwater called Proof. A morning drive up to the cemetery and soaking in the beautiful light. Have lunch with my mom, go home, write a song or a poem. I try to write everyday. Go to the thrifting bins or a vintage shop but on a weekend I love going to flea markets. I love forcing myself to make music and studio sessions really make me do that … so maybe go to a studio session for a little then go to the hills and practice with my band. After an amazing jam session I’m usually really inspired so I’d come back to the song I was writing and keep writing it or producing it then watch an inspiring documentary and fall asleep!
You've thrown unreleased songs on SoundCloud and YouTube. How do you decide which ones deserve an official release?
The songs that mean the most to me are when I work on them for a long time ... “long distance train” took me a year to finish. I wrote it in Spain, came back to LA two weeks later and produced it in a couple days. It sat in my files for many months because it was such a special song to me I wanted to make sure I was ready to put it out there.
What’s the best part about being young?
Being young and being Eilish Constance is a blessing. I’m still a kid so I stick out like a sore thumb in the music industry ... I don’t have to pay rent or taxes so focusing on music is my main priority. It’s the fire that lights my life and having all the time in the world to put my best effort into that is so wonderful and freeing.
