forty winks makes the kind of damaged, catchy indie rock that makes you want to jump up and down on a thrift store couch while dumping Frosted Flakes all over the floor. Today, we are excited to present the premiere of “noise,” a fine example of the Pittsburgh band in action. It’s tricky and shredding, with a sticky melodic sensibility. For fans of forward-pushing contemporary guitar music in the vein of feeble little horse or the Julia’s War roster, “noise” will scratch an itch.
Band member Cilia had this to say about the tune: “‘noise’ is a song that the band completely collaborated on. We all spent hours together working out the perfect composition and vocal harmonies. Cilia wrote the lyrics after taking a route home in her hometown that she hasn’t taken for years.”
The song comes with a goodie bag full of Nina-exclusive bonus material, including photos, videos, demos, and even a damn bass chart. It’s worth the price of admission alone.
