It’s Monday, Nina Respectors: It’s time to don that Cookie Monster snapback, throw on some steaming hot Brazilian electro, and handle that shit! The third LP from the Brazilian producer Marcela Dias Sindaco was recorded at studios across her home country. The record, a combination of bedrock electro and techno influences and Portuguese vocals, is delivered to us with a deft touch. We are talking Drexciyan levels of tactile electro control here, people! It might be projection on my part, but I also hear a bit of a subtle funk carioca influence peaking in here and there, especially on tracks like “Canção de ninar,” which hits like an alien freestyle jam supreme. The whole double LP, released by the trustworthy Oklahoma City electronica label Fixed Rhythms, retains a freakish level of charm and quality control; for all you electro fiends out there, it’s a late runner for record of the year.
