Here, two great electronica minds come together for a two-track throwdown. In one corner: the Japanese avant-footwork legend Foodman. In another: new-school HD wiggly dance music maniac Nikki Nair. The result: two tunes that sound both like and unlike each artist’s individual outputs; it is music that could only come from what was surely a legendary link-up in Foodman’s hometown of Nagoya. According to a press release, the artists ate, drank, and jammed; one dish in particular, a sort of miso udon that Foodman refers to as “Deep Miso,” serves as a track title; the other title has to do with the aftermath of an epic sauna session. These tracks retain or even amplify the playfulness that is so crucial to both producers’ appeal. Delightful!
