The Portuguese artist/producer and self-proclaimed numerologist Villa, Redhead dropped Infinite Abundance towards the end of 2024, but it deserves a bump this summer. The album hovers over a hazy collection of indie styles, moving between hypnagogic-leaning pop and downtempo alt-rock. It’s a sound that fits almost too well in our newly coined #cloudrock playlist.

The opening track, “Thank You So Much Universe,” features a woman whose voice eerily pitches up and down as she talks numerology and acknowledges the pathos of the record’s title. The track bleeds into “The Wall Was Dry,” a stripped-down banger that, despite hanging out among the shorter cuts on the album, feels like one of the more fleshed-out ideas in terms of songwriting and execution.

One of my personal favorites is “The Sun.” It’s one of those tracks that feels like it’s just about to go somewhere really special, but ends abruptly. And while I usually don’t mind that as part of the lo-fi aesthetic, I can’t help but wonder where a song like that could go if it were pushed a little further, given more room to unfold.
