The new EP from Amsterdam-based producer Yoong gives me flashbacks to being a teenager and downloading stray dance music MP3s off of blogs that do not exist anymore. One standout track, “Milk Tea,” has a driving and floaty feel that calls back to the glory days of Kompakt, the Cologne-based label that specializes in warm, textural dance music with a pop edge. The vocal chops that lead closer “Cul-de-sac” are just as friendly. Four very fine tracks.
