It’s rare that I get demos in my inbox and they convince me immediately. Not so with the message from Evan Michael. Evan is a man behind the scenes of NYC nightlife and he sent over a folder full of amazing tracks. All full of energy and full of joy. It was hard to make a choice but in the end Paranoia and Vice Versa were the ones.
Paranoia is that perfectly crafted dance floor anthem, weaving together cosmic synths and indie house music. A song that Running Back will wish they had released first.
And there is Vice Versa which arrives with even more bouncy, uplifting energy. With a synth line that sounds like pure unfiltered joy. Like your kid coming home from school, rushing to play with their friends. That one melody that gets stuck in your head long after leaving the rave in the early morning hours. All paired with a perfect touch of dreaminess.
For the remixes, we are bridging the worlds: New York, Tokyo, Berlin, Vilnius:
Maks Légère brings us a remix that is melting together Berlin cool with NYC heat. That dubbed-out texture that makes you wanna take those forbidden pictures on the dancefloor again.
Tokyo’s U-T makes you wanna open a bottle of Sake and empty it in one sip. It’s groovy, laid-back, stripped down. Imagine driving through the rice fields and mountains of Japan to a secret party location. This one is the perfect soundtrack for the journey. Full of anticipation.
Finally Nikita von Tiraspol (Vilnius) brings the immersive rhythms together with that joyful synth line and those lush pads. Oh, these drums.
