"Dreaming in the Drain” is the new 8 track album by Lucien Silt, the new alias from the French producer more widely known as Sprælle.
Dreaming in the Drain takes colors from 70s NYC art rock and dusty trip hop textures, emulsifying them into something more disembodied and piecemeal. Some tracks read like sketches, confident licks and lines mostly bare or unchanged, with elements rubbed away or tacked on years later, continents away from their origins. Others emerge fully formed, albeit covered in viscera, slowed and pinched, lyrics peeking through the confit in impressionistic vignette. Recorded in spurts across lives and places lived; central Texas, New York City, and Paris, the album serves as a scrapbook of those worlds. It can be read as particularly or as open ended as the listener sees fit, an intentional aspect of the work.
