Rome comes out the gate to drop his newest record ‘news@6’, the lead single off his upcoming debut solo project “#onlychildmuzik” set to be released in early 2026. Produced by Rome himself, the single comes at a great period for the artist, with Rome having recently been featured on five Spotify editorial playlists (twoblaccbois - Rome, Floetic), appearing on Red Bull’s “Mic Flex”, and having been interviewed by The Culture Crypt (Meet Rome and Floetic: The Croydon Rap Torchbearers — Interview — The Culture Crypt), all in just the last two months.

Structured like a raw, chaotic broadcast, ‘news@6’, balances gritty London street references with cheeky humour and infectious charismatic energy. The hook “this is your news at the 6”, frames the song as Rome’s personal bulletin to the world, commanding the listener to “chop their jugg”, and get straight to partying. Sandwiched in between the hooks, the verse touches on self affirmation, doubt, politics and fashion, just to name a few, all whilst Rome provocatively flirts with a mysterious female through the track. The varied subject matters are a reflection of Rome’s mindstate; frantic and unorthodox, confidently darting across different topics all in a light hearted, jovial way.

Playful, self-aware, and distinctly British, ‘news@6’ is a great introduction to the psyche that is “#onlychildmuzik”: self-reflective, brash, cheeky, and impossible to ignore. The project written, produced and performed by Rome, will have no features, a reflection of himself being an only child, with Rome wanting to display his artistic creativity and genius, as he knows he is one of the best artists in the UK. He just has to prove it to you and the rest of the country.

Over the past year, Rome has continued to make his mark, following the release of his critically acclaimed joint EP “blaccboibrit” with Floetic back in August. His live performances have included standout appearances at Wireless, Reading Festival, Brick Lane Jazz Festival, and TwstdFest, alongside a headline show at Rough Trade East in Shoreditch back in June. Rome’s growing recognition has also seen him featured on BBC 1Xtra, NTS Radio, Balamii, and Reprezent Radio.

With the rollout for “news@6” now underway, the single will arrive alongside a self-directed music video, further showcasing Rome’s creative vision. A press run is also in motion, featuring radio interviews and live performances with radio stations including Reprezent and Croydon FM, among others. To build anticipation, Rome will release a series of short-form videos across his social media platforms, driving momentum ahead of his next single “motionfreestyle,” set to drop in late November.
