"growing up in the ruhr area of the 90s,
I was influenced by the remnants of a once
of a once flourishing industrial region. the desolate buildings
buildings, the infrastructure designed for heavy industry
and the typical workers' housing estates, have changed the
the perception of my surroundings and my understanding
of this region.
my mother comes from poland, more precisely
from the Upper Silesian industrial area, a region
region that has undergone a similar transformation.
i wanted to understand what connects these places,
what makes them different, and whether I can move in a foreign,
familiar region as I do at home.
