Anticon is proud to announce We Are Rising REMIXED, a stunning reinvention of Son Lux's 2011 LP with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting VSA and Accessibility, who provide arts education opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. In February of last year, Ryan Lott was challenged to create an entire album in a month's time—the result was a vibrant collision of electronic transcendence and orchestral organics. To celebrate the anniversary of that spontaneous creation, Lott assembled a diverse and talented crew of remixers who generously donated their time. REMIXED reinvents We Are Rising nine ways, unpacking the original, letting it breathe, and allowing the songs to rise once again.

Coming off of a series of successful collaborations --notably the S/S/S project with Sufjan Stevens and Serengeti, and a lauded concert with the yMusic ensemble and Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Parry—Lott was inspired to see his vision siphoned through the eyes and ears of other producers with equally singular voices. Among them: grit-loving beat beast Deru; electro-addled Olga Bell; Andrew Judah and his banjo; Mutemath drummer Darren King; Shins bassist Yuuki Matthews; icy electonicist Alias; tape-warp auteur Virtual Flannel; the spectral and strange Violetness; and Baths, whose transcendent warmth graces the closer, "Rebuild." Over the next month, Lott will share interviews with each via the Son Lux tumblr.

This digital collection's artwork is a remix as well. In posting the original Photoshop files created by We Are Rising's groundbreaking design team The Made Shop, Lott issued an open call for fans to submit their own version. John Bloor from the small English town of Whitchurch matched the heart and inventiveness of the original, building physical models of the typography and posing them in various states of order and artful disarray. The hand-wrought feel suits this group of songs, which performs a similar trick on Son Lux's own arrangements, keeping with the modular, ever-evolving theme of his work to date. We Are Rising REMIXED encompasses both revision and rebirth, enriching the conversation that much more.
