Following her 2021 debut lofi lockdown album, in my head, Chicago-based Eillah returns with with lush indie folk two-sider “Amaranth / My Own Mouth.” She teamed up with producer, engineer, and drummer Jack Henry (Free Range, Hemlock) to explore a new sonic terrain, leaning both into her stripped-back and fleshed-out sensibilities.
Tracked under two full moons and across two sessions, this pair of songs perform a balancing act between raw and realized, grounded and floating, half-awake, and half dreaming.
Intersecting razor sharp reality with childlike escapism, Eillah’s inner world is placed at the crossroads of conviction and compulsion, on an endless pursuit to weave, untangle, and pull at life’s heartstrings.
