NIGHT DRIVE AMERICA: OST is the original soundtrack to Night Drive America (called Night Drive USA in its Japanese arcade iteration circa 2005,) a fictional independent video game for the SEGA CD by a small team of (Japanese? Nobody knows for sure) programmers who received messages in dreams from a group of teenagers driving recklessly around the Pacific Northwest on various summer nights in 2004.

In an imagined timeline wherein the SEGA CD dominated the U.S. console market well into the new millennium, this soundtrack does not aim to replicate the console’s exact soundchip but to imagine how one member of the development team spent many hours in his bedroom exploring and inventing new ways to compose in a manner to match the timbre of the dreams (or were they real, to those that lived them?) on which the game is based.
