Final track of the year, and it's one that I wasn't expecting to release this year. In actuality, another song was going to be released instead, but couldn't. Fortunately, it's not for personal reasons (that track is completed), but I'm saving that now for early next year. So instead, we have Clementine. Clementine is definitely a unique track compared to my discography given the acoustic aesthetic and lack of obvious electronic synthesis or sampling; and that was purposeful. I used a guitar sample from Freesound as the foundation for a track to expand upon. The intention was to create a soundscape around it of sorts. So most of the track (not the guitar or bass) is made up of personal foley; whether that be random household elements used as discordant drums, or more atmospheric/dry elements used as ambience. I wanted to create a realized environment for the track to sit in. And another element that is evidently bohemian is the vocals and lyrics. Obviously, I cannot sing to save my life. So instead, I altered the transposition and formant of my vocals to give it a childlike-infliction. In a way, it sounds creepier given the ominious atmosphere of the instrumental and the lyrics. Speaking of, the lyrics focus on the transition between life and death; those last few moments before the time arises to leave reality. And that is confounded in the conduit of Clementine, the protagonist of sorts for the track. But unlike most depictions of death, I believe that there is a lot of beauty and peace involved with it, so tried to make said depiction less one note. Overall, it's a very bizarre track, and one that most probably won't like. But I sorta vibe with it. To end 2025 with Clementine, why not? Anywho, I hope y'all have an amazing reast of the year, and enjoy!
