"...It’s funny, because I wanted to write an album about UFOs. I wanted to write lyrics about all these crazy paranormal ideas I was obsessing over, but I couldn’t. I could only write about my life and what was actually happening to me. I had just quit my job as a teacher and moved in with my parents, and had no idea what to do next. That was all that could ever come through in the lyrics. But I realized that my supernatural obsessions weren’t entirely separate from all this. I think there was some synthesis between not having the full picture of my own life and the same being the case for Life in general. Like I’m not the only one who’s clueless; it seems like we all are, about ourselves, about what’s out there, about what comes next..."
