Ark is overall an album for lovers and all that they endure. In October ‘23, my friend Buck Meek helped me make this record. Being Buck’s first production, I think this record emits a singular energy that cannot be reproduced. We recorded live in one room (no cans). Spirits were high, and we were all having fun. No song played more than three times while the tape was rolling — and that’s where the magic came from. It took us 3 days to record 10 tracks. Buck played bass and drove the direction of the songs. The band included Adam Brisbin (Electric guitar), Jesse Quebberman-Turley (Drums), Adrianne Lenker (voice), James Krivchenia (voice), Mat Davidson (Voice), Mikey Buishas (Keys, Horn), and Michael Sachs (Winds). Germaine Dunes engineered the record and sang on several songs with me.
As I’ve been planning / releasing this record, life has been hard. After 8 month of tour in 2024 I moved to Jersey to take care of my Grandpa. I was there 8 months until he passed. Couple weeks later I found a spot in NYC and moved…and 2 days later my dad passed as well. Since then, life has been a rollercoaster of grief.
…A song from Ark that speaks to me right now is the closing track, Sleep. In this heavy season of change, Sleep serves as a reminder to ground myself in the present, and accept the things I can’t change. I hope this sentiment translates to others… and I hope this album brings folks a little solace, and a little joy.
I am so proud of this record, and I am ever grateful for the opportunity to have made it at Ringo Bingo. Will hold that memory near to my heart foralways. I owe a huge thanks to Matt & Kyle at Airloom for helping release this. I also owe great thanks to my friends Steve Clarke & Robert Cherry for their devotion and guidance. Shoutout to Will Clark for your help as well.
