“Hako” means a box
People have a box in the heart
Some people decorate it in multicolor
Some people take a rest and hand knit
My box is still empty but I can find a cat’s paw print
It seems like a secret cat’s path
Find a box yourself in the inner cosmos
This music will be helpful in making your inner tour enjoyable

I’m super happy that the fourth solo release on Istotne Nagr. comes from the hands of Tokyo-based musician YNO (not to be mistaken with a famous Japanese orchestra, it’s just that his name is Yano). It doesn’t happen very often with Soundcloud discoveries, the kind of situation when you stumble upon a previously unknown profile, see more than forty tracks, jump right into listening, one by one, and stay impressed until the very last note. This was exactly my case when I heard YNO’s works for the first time. What is more, those tracks varied very much in terms of style, making the listening experience really the opposite of boring. We can find a similar approach on “Okiniiri No Hako” - each of these sound miniatures has its own different flavor. Their one-word titles may resemble Casio toy keyboard preset names but you definitely shouldn’t expect anything generic about this music. It’s rather a kind of dreamy and sometimes quirky impression about those ten keywords, where all means are allowed, whether it is a trap beat, a vintage-sounding bubbling synth, a cartoon sample or vaporwave’ish nostalgia.
