This EP is inspired by the theories of the phantom Island and the archipelago posited by François J. Bonnet in The Order of Sounds: A Sonorous Archipelago; The archipelago acts as a vector of authority by bringing together a disparate set of sounds into an established whole and at the same time, is a multiplicity, of individual sounds both ‘real’ and ‘phantom’, vulnerable to the shifting of the terrain, of becoming something else.
"It is always already there. its origin lost in the limbo of the past, and yet its existence can always be called into question: it is always potentially no longer there. It is isolated ground that eludes us, in so doing prompting the imperious need to grab hold of it, to prove its existence. But it is also a ground that can never be experienced, a shifting isle that ceaselessly drifts, impossibly subtracting itself from any possible exploration.”
